Collective identities - being left alone
The work of Minna Kiper and Susanna Leibovici, as I see it, is a work where practice and performativity welds together. It is developing in a current choreographic movement of rethinking and renegotiating the boundaries of the performance as private and public, as display and doing, as intimate and political, as format and scale. As such a practice, it inevitably deals in an active manner with an implicit politicality of organizing – identities with histories, bodies with spaces, as well as different forms of capital. It is a critical practice, that theorizes, fights and laughs as it does.
The work – as expressed in the Solo Project (2007-2011) – is curious and thought provoking as it both seems to wish to dissolve normative notions of individual authorship and at the same time is based on a notion of conflict. It takes place on the surface between – and through the emotional and historical bonds of – two individuals that both own, and cannot ever own, themselves and/or each other. The performance invites us to give attention to a practice that at first looks rather incomprehensible; with a paradoxical sense of disinterest in proving anything, and at the same time completely soaked in wants, desires and needs to produce a specific space of acting, belonging, being left alone. It seems to have no need to spread and colonize into other peoples minds or practices, but it asks us for a sense of mutual support and care, it asks of us to clarify our position.
Leibovici and Kiper will now deal specifically with the space of experimental (live) art, and the economies of art. This is an urgent task, as the rise of the Creative Industries carries both potential and paranoia, and as the contemporary questions of public and private makes it necessary for us to collaboratively think about wether it is time to reinforce public as we know it, or if we are to search for other sub-commons, rethinking solidarity and distribution according to other types of collective identities – based on the very practice that Kiper and Leibovici are dealing with; a practice of practicing; modes of togetherness, negotiation, subsumption, value, space, and exchange.

Atalante arbetar med två huvudgrupper i sin verksamhet. Den ena är det publika. Där föreställningar möter publiken i form av gästspel, samarbeten och Atalantes egna produktioner.
Den andra huvudgruppen är de konstnärliga processerna. Att låta konsten stå i fokus. År 2011 känns detta viktigare än någonsin. Dansen och scenkonsten är i ständig utveckling. I Göteborg tar den experimentella scenkosten mer och mer plats och utmanar rådande konstnärliga normer/former.
2010 presenterade Minna Kiper och Susanna Leibovici projektet "Om 20 veckor finns mer än en titel". Utgångspunkten var platsen och just den experimentella scenen som utrymme och konstruktion.
"Om 20 veckor finns mer än en titel" ringar tydligt in hur viktigt de konstnärliga processerna är och måste få ta plats inne i ett scenrum för att man ska få konsten att utvecklas och där slutproduktionen är sekundärt.
"Om 20 veckor finns mer än en titel" samarbetsprojekt med Atalante, som har en enorm konstnärlig tyngd och har frågeställningar som Atalante själv arbetar med som scen och för att kunna vara en plats i ständigt utveckling.
"Om 20 veckor" har beskrivet det bäst; micro-politiska strategier och konstnärer som tar risker, spekulerar fritt, återvinner, associerar, omformulerar och göra något mot alla odds.
